8:00 - 9:30 Monthly Summer Movie night in the Interaction Room
The Past. 130 minutes. 8 PM. Pizza. Interaction Room.
" Tonight, we'll be screening the latest film from international superstar director Asghar Farhadi, The Past, starring Berenice Bejo of The Artist fame. Bejo plays Marie, a woman in the midst of divorce proceedings with her soon-to-be ex-husband Ahmad. Admad arrives in France after four years to finalize the divorce with Marie, only to discover that she is in a relationship with a new man, Samir, a relationship which has caused a rift between Marie and her daughter Lucie. If you've seen Farhadi's A Separation, you know that what follows from this simple setting will be emotionally draining, a superbly acted melodrama about family, secrets, lies, and people doing bad things but meaning well. The Past was up for the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year, eventually losing out to Blue is the Warmest Color (a fantastic film in its own right), but managed to snag a Best Actress Award for Bejo."
8:00 - 10:00 Wild Bohr's Games of the summer season at Dodds park near Parkland College.
