Illinois GPS seeking Graduate Mentors
Illinois GPS is currently accepting applications from graduate students who are interested in mentoring
undergraduates next semester. If
you can meet every few weeks with a physics major who wants to know how
you got where you are and if you want to actively
help to make our department a welcoming and supportive environment for
all students, then you should apply!
Illinois
GPS (Guidance for Physics Students) is a mentoring group intended
to bridge the undergraduate and graduate physics communities here at
UIUC. It matches undergraduates and graduates for
one-on-one peer mentoring and provides open (optional) group-wide
community activities, either social or academic or
in between.
No
previous mentorship experience is necessary, and the time commitment is
fairly modest and flexible. Undergrads are looking for advice on
what it's like to be a graduate student, major research areas, the graduate
school application process, etc. as well
as for a community that shares their interest in the physical world. You
can make a big difference to them!
The application is here: http://goo.gl/forms/ VXxZxwqfAm.
